Let’s go on a wild food walk along the beautiful coast of Killiney, South County Dublin. Discover the thrill of foraging delicious wild edibles and learn how to identify them with confidence.

This gentle stroll along a 4km route covers beach, woodland and urban habitats. We stop frequently to explore the culinary and medicinal uses of the wild food plants that cross our path. Discover some curious folklore behind the plants too!

Your guide, Tanya Jordan, is a passionate life-long forager and will open your eyes to the wild and free foods growing all around you.

Walk includes

  • Experienced wild food guide.

  • Learning how to safely identify seasonal wild edibles with confidence.

  • Medicinal and nutritional properties of wild foods and plants. (Please note, we do not cover the specialist subject of fungi).

  • How to easily incorporate wild edibles into your diet.

  • Tips on harvesting, preparation and preservation.

  • Walk starts and ends at Killiney Dart Station.

  • Public toilets available

 

What to wear & bring

  • Warm, comfortable, rainproof clothing.

  • Sturdy walking shoes. Some uneven and uphill terrain but we move at a very gentle pace.

  • Bring along your own cup and water (to drink and to wash plants you wish to sample).

  • Snacks or a packed lunch as appropriate.

  • Strong scissors and a canvas or paper bag if you wish to take samples.
