About your guide

Working as a Failte Ireland approved national tour guide and events professional for many years, I wanted to bring together my love for wild foods and my wealth of experience in tourism.

I have many fond childhood memories of collecting berries, rose hips and elder flowers and the wonder of my granny turning them into delicious tarts, jams or cordials. In my adult life I began creating my own wild food recipes such as dandelion doughnuts, zingy botanical cocktails and our family favourite, seaberry ice cream.

Through further education with medical herbalists and inspirational chefs my understanding of the strong link between food and health grew. It is such a joy to now be able to introduce a wider audience to the thrills of gathering healthy, wild and free edibles in a sustainable way.

But be warned: after taking part in a Wild Food Event you will never look at a berry, a hedge or a weed in the same way again! You will see that everything has the potential to become a tasty meal, a flavoursome drink or a medicinal oil!
